It especially makes sense in team sports where personnel changes, wins, losses, all contribute to this vortex of perpetual flux. Team dichotomy and chemistry are formed in the backdrop of these circumstances. With the Grizzlies, it’s weird trying gauge their pulse because of the glut of injuries they have been experiencing lately. There is no telling how to prepare or approach them when their lineup is ravaged to this degree. The funny thing that happens when you play a team like Memphis is they either 1.) fold and succumb to their circumstances, or 2.) adopt that disposition to fight back even harder. The Clippers realized the Grizzlies would choose the latter option. Conveniently for Memphis – and after he was listed officially as ‘questionable’ to play – Zach Randolph decided he was returning from a 7-game absence against L.A. only to drop his first career triple double in his 15th NBA season. You won’t win games being dominated on the glass like the Clippers did in this one (30-44) or in paint points (24-40). Then you compound that already putrid effort with Z-Bo’s career game and Tony Allen shoving the ball down your throat and that’s all she wrote. Sometimes it is what it is.
